SPRING DUST-OFF 2011

After the original date was posponed for 2 week due to a late snow storm, we finally had our dust-off  tour on May 14th. This year we had a poker run with the tour. Highest hand at the end won a Black and Decker rechargeable drill and a set of drill bits. We had a great turnout this year with 14 cars from a 1929 Model A roadster to a 1974 Chev Vega. Our meeting place was at the Canyon View  Park at the mouth of Provo Canyon. After some tire kicking and general greetings we drew our first card then made our way to Bridal Veil Falls for our second card draw and a photo op with the falls as a backdrop.
Then on to our 3rd stop and card draw at the Midway Park in the center of town. Off to Kamas for the 4rd card, BUT WAIT, Jim Davenports 35 Chev had a different idea. The left rear coilover's shock shaft decided to come unscrewed out of the top eyelet. Down that side came sitting the car almost on the ground. With very few tool available (2 screw jacks, Cresent wrench, channel locks pliers, and a leatherman pocket knife) and alot of ingenuity, we got him put back together and back on the road, in about an hour. Luckily nothing was hurt on his car and while it was being fixed we drew our forth card.
  Away we went, next stop, Oakley, our final destination and last card. After all the poker hands played, Chris Davenport won with 3 of a kind, drawing a third seven on the last card. Congratulations Chris we know that you can use the drill and bits. After a great lunch at the Rhode Island Diner in Oakley, the clouds started to build up and it looked as if we were going to get rained on. Yep, on the way home we hit alot of wind and rain through Heber and off the side of the road was Norm Castle's 40 Ford with a bad electric fuel pump. Norm called on Don Pendergrass to bring up a trailer to bring him home. All in all we had a great time and in spite of a few mishaps (and a little rain) everyone arrived home safely. Thanks to all who attended and made this a great dust-off.
